HEALTH PROMOTION: Inspiring the Cheyenne Nation to increase their quality of life for present & future generations



The NCTBH Health Promotion Department’s mission is to promote health & wellness in our communities through prevention education & outreach.  The department consists of the following seven (7) offices:

  1. Cotton Wood Connection ( Meth-Suicide Prevention)
  2. Dragonfly Project (suicide prevention)
  3. Tobacco Prevention
  4. Environmental Health (injury prevention)
  5. Health Education
  6. WIC

Our main office is located on the north side of Lame Deer on the corner of  Cheyenne Ave. & Eaglefeathers St., across from the courthouse and prosecution offices.  For questions or to access any of our services, the easiest way to reach us is by phone, please call our main line at  (406) 477- 4946.  Our friendly Office Manager will assist you.

SUICIDE PREVENTION
Prevention Lifeline 1-800 273-TALK

There are two offices that focus on suicide prevention: Honor Your Life and Meth Suicide Prevention Initiative.  Both programs perform outreach activities in the community and area schools, such as suicide prevention trainings and/or collaborative events.

TOBACCO PREVENTION
Montana Tobacco QuitLine (866) 485-QUIT

The Tobacco Prevention office provides prevention education & awareness about the extreme dangers smoking-and-chewing can have on you and your loved ones’ health.  The Tobacco Prevention Specialist Rick Wolfname is available to travel to your school or organization to speak on prevention and to team up with your existing or planned projects.  Please contact Rick at (406) 477-4250 or visit his office located within the Northern Cheyenne IHS Service Unit (clinic) on the north side of Lame Deer, Montana.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH

 

 

 

The Environmental Health Office provides a number of services, that include the following:

  • Inspect solid waste sites, Head Start centers, food vendors & business to be in compliance with health codes
  • Vector Control (spray for mosquitos)
  • Sponsor and/or assist with Spay & Neuter Clinics
  • Rabies Vaccination clinics for pets
  • Injury Prevention

HEALTH EDUCATION

The Health Education office promotes the development of a healthy, physical lifestyle among the people on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation through constant outreach to area schools and organizations.

ONCOLOGY (cancer)
The Oncology program provides education and support services for cancer patients, such as transportation to and from medical appointments. The office is located 100 Eaglefeathers Street, Lame Deer MT 59043 on the north side of U.S. HWY 212. For more information please call (406) 477-4949. Office hours are 8-5, Monday through Friday.
